Kansas City, Missouri, is a fantastic destination for a quick, family-friendly getaway, and our trip in June 2022 was nothing short of memorable! From exciting attractions to mouthwatering food, our trip proved to be family fun in Kansas City.
Day 1: Cracking Codes and Savoring Island Vibes
Our first evening kicked off with an exhilarating visit to Breakout KC Escape Room in the River Market area. Tackling “The Hero” room was a blast! The puzzles were well-designed and engaging, making it a perfect activity to bring our family together. Dinner followed at Hawaiian Bros Island Grill, where we enjoyed delicious island-inspired meals.
Day 2: Wild Adventures and Legendary Barbecue
Day two was packed with adventure. We began our morning at Snooze an AM Eatery, savoring creative breakfast dishes. Then, we explored the Kansas City Zoo and Aquarium, which turned out to be a highlight of the trip. The zoo was expansive and well-maintained, with the aquarium adding a fun, aquatic twist to the experience. Zoos are a must for us on vacations, and this one did not disappoint!
Dinner at Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que was unforgettable. Located in an old gas station, the food was as iconic as the location. This legendary spot lived up to the hype with tender, smoky barbecue that left us raving. Afterward, we played a round of disc golf at Waterworks Park, a beautiful and scenic course with great views of Kansas City. We wrapped up the day with sweet treats from Cold Stone Creamery.
Day 3: Burgers, Nostalgia, and Farewell Fun
Before heading home, we stopped at Winstead’s Steakburgers on day three. This retro diner was the perfect way to cap off our family adventure in Kansas City.
