A Gulf Shores Family Adventure: The Ultimate Summer Vacation
Gulf Shores, Alabama, is the perfect destination for an unforgettable family getaway. From thrilling wildlife encounters to relaxing beach strolls, this Gulf Shores family adventure had something for everyone. Whether exploring local attractions, dining at coastal favorites, or enjoying Gulf breezes, we created memories to last a lifetime.
Day 1: Wildlife and Waterfront Views
Morning: Alligator Alley
Our Gulf Shores family adventure began at Alligator Alley in Summerdale, a unique park where over 30 alligators came to shore during feeding time. The sight of these massive reptiles swimming out of the swamp to feast was a thrilling experience, and holding a baby alligator was the highlight for the kids. Despite an unexpected delay due to our car’s air conditioning issues, this adventure was well worth the wait.
Evening: Perdido Queen Dinner Cruise
After a hot day, we dressed up for the elegant Perdido Queen Dinner Cruise. Gliding along Mobile Bay, we enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner while admiring the twinkling lights of Mobile and the impressive navy ships in the harbor. The relaxing atmosphere and stunning views made this evening an unforgettable part of our Gulf Shores family adventure.
Day 2: From Dauphin Island to Gulf Shores Fun
Morning: Coffee and Coastal Views
We started the day at Selah Coffee Shop on Plantation Road. The coffee was excellent, and the welcoming atmosphere was a testament to the friendliness of this community. At 9:45 am, we boarded the Mobile Bay Ferry to cross to Fort Morgan Landing. Squeezing our car onto the packed ferry added an extra layer of excitement to the journey, and the coastal views from the deck were stunning.
Lunch: Captn Snappers
Once on Dauphin Island, we stopped at Captn Snappers for a fresh, hearty seafood meal. The laid-back atmosphere and flavorful dishes set the tone for a perfect afternoon.
Evening: Family Fun at LuLu’s and The Track
Dinner was at LuLu’s Gulf Shores, where we enjoyed live music and kid-friendly entertainment. This iconic spot features arcade games, bars, and outdoor activities, making it ideal for families. We ended the evening at The Track, where we raced go-karts on a thrilling wooden multi-level track.
Day 3: Food, Fun, and Farewell
Lunch: Jess’s on the Bay
Jess’s on the Bay was a culinary highlight. I savored the best Caesar salad and fresh oysters, while the bay views provided a serene backdrop for our upscale lunch experience.
Afternoon: Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and The Yard Milkshake Bar
At 2:30 pm, we visited the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, where the manageable size and variety of animals made it enjoyable for everyone. Then came a sweet treat at The Yard Milkshake Bar, where their over-the-top milkshakes wowed our taste buds. But what’s up with the name?
Evening: Pirates Island Adventure Golf
Pirates Island Adventure Golf offered a lively mix of competition and pirate-themed fun. The kids loved the waterfalls and caves along the course.
